Compassion Emergency Team

This program was created with the intention to support families and victims of natural disasters or catastrophes. Due to our limited staff, we have not been able to fully devote our efforts to this program. We are looking for volunteers worldwide to be a part of Sakya Care family to support this wonderful program. Below are some of the past events that we have done thus far.

Hurricane Harvey – Houston, TX #2

Posted: September 6, 2017

Kindness-in-action! Thank you Dr Tami Phan and her friends for representing Sakya Care to deliver 60 air mattresses to the Cambodian community in Rosharon, south of Houston, Texas who were heavily affected by Hurricane Harvey. They are mainly farmers and most of their homes are damaged, not a habitable condition due to molding. They are asking for tents and air mattresses in the mean time while trying to rebuild the community. Thank you to the board of Sakya for stepping up to donate the air mattress to help out the Cambodian community! 💕😍❤️

Sakya Care members/volunteers and my friends in Texas, especially Houston… hope you and your family are safe! If you need help in anyway, please let us know! Sakya team members in Houston are helping to assess the damage and see what kind of help we can provide. We will let you know what we can do to help those in needs! Please keep praying for everyone! 💕❤️😍🙏 Some pictures from our team leaders helping to prepare a shelter at Phap Luan temple. Money are donated from Sakya Care board members to buy air mattress, water and blankets . Thank you…

Dear Family & Friends,Since 2012, the Sakya Care Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, has been dedicated to humanitarian service. We invite you to support our 7th Humanitarian Medical Mission to Vietnam from June 26–July 5, 2026.This year, approximately 150 volunteers—including physicians, dentists, optometrists, pharmacists, nurses, and support staff—will serve rural communities in Central Vietnam, providing medical, dental, vision, and pharmacy care to nearly 6,000 people in need.Because international shipping is costly, monetary donations are the most effective way to help. Sakya Care Foundation
Dear Family and Friends,The Sakya Care Foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that began on its humanitarian work since 2012. We are writing to invite your support for our seventh Humanitarian Medical Mission toVietnam, taking place in June & July 2026. With your compassion and generosity, we hope to make this mission a success and bring much-needed care to underserved communities. This year’s mission will include a professional team of approximately 150 volunteers, including physicians, dentists, optometrists, pharmacists, nurses, and other general volunteers committed to serving others. Our team will travel to the rural regions of Central Vietnam, where many generations of familiesface poverty and still depend on rice farming to live. Our goal is to provide medical, dental, vision, and pharmacy care to more than 5,500 individuals who face significant barriers to healthcare due tofinancial hardship and geographical isolation. Because of the high cost of shipping equipment and donated goods internationally, monetary donations are the most effective way to support our mission. With your donation, we can purchase essentialsupplies such as medications and eyeglasses locally in Vietnam at a much lower cost. For example:- $15 provides supplies for dental procedures to maintain health teeth for 1 individual- $15 supplies medications and vitamins for a malnourished child- $20 provides a pair of eyeglasses, giving someone the gift of sightIn addition, each patient who receives a medical check-up will be given a community service ‘goody bag’ containing essential items such as rice, noodles, cooking oil, clothing, school supplies, and other necessities. A donation of $15 provides one of these goody bags to a patient of need.We gratefully accept donations through the following methods:1. Zelle: sakyacare@gmail.com2. Check, payable to:Sakya Care Foundation - Memo “Vietnam Mission 2026”11427 Jones RdHouston, TX, 770703. Credit card with a small fee on our website:www.sakyacare.org/wp/donation/donate-now/Donations help sustain our organization and directly benefit the communities we serve. As a 501(c)(3) organization, your contribution is tax-deductible, and 100% of all donations go directly toward serving those in need. We deeply appreciate your kindness and thank you for helpingmake this mission possible.Sincerely,Sakya Care Foundation ... See MoreSee Less
